Liverpool Tumour Microenvironment
LivTME CANCER RESEARCH TEAM
LivTME are a vibrant research group focusing on the tumour microenvironment in cancer. We are located at University of Liverpool in the Department of Molecular and Clinical Cancer Medicine and we are part of the Institute of Systems, Molecular and Integrative Biology (ISMIB).
Our lab is studying how non-cancerous stromal cells promote tumour progression and resistance to anti-cancer therapy. Our ultimate aim is to identify new therapeutic possibilities to fight cancer. To achieve this, we are using a variety of multi-disciplinary methods to study stroma – tumour cell interactions and to identify and validate novel therapeutic targets.

LivTME Cancer Research Team
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL
We are a dynamic, diverse, and passionate team of cancer researchers driven by a shared mission: to unlock the mysteries of cancer and pave the way for breakthrough treatments for cancer patients.
Care & Connect
Enhance our understanding of cancer to improve the care of cancer patients and to connect our translational research to direct clinical applications.
Train & Support
To train and support new student scientists and accompany them to become motivated cancer researchers.
Inspirational Working
Unlocking unconventional approaches by providing a fun, productive, and inspirational working environment

OUR GOAL
To understand the biology of macrophages in the context of cancer, in particular in liver metastasis, in order to restore their tumour suppressing functions.
618
The cancer incidence rate in NW England is 618.2 per 100,00
3%
Pancreatic cancer is 3% of all new cancer cases in males and females
8%
Estimated percentage of deaths of pancreatic cancer patients
Investigating
Stromal & Cancer Cells
Our laboratory investigates the interactions between stromal and cancer cells in the tumour microenvironment.
In this endeavour, we utilise a variety of approaches such as primary and metastatic pre-clinical tumour models, cell biology, bioinformatics, and validation of findings in clinical samples.
